WORK HOURS:

Total of 18 hours per week, September through mid-June:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 - 1:30

(occasional  extra hours available for special events and trainings)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

∙Responsible for following the curriculum and daily rhythm planned by the Lead Teacher that meets the developmental needs and abilities of the children and is consistent with the core values, mission, and goals modeling the Waldorf educational philosophy.

∙Ensures the health and safety of all students, employees, and volunteers; follows all school safety procedures.

∙Participates directly in planned classroom activities, offering assistance to students who need extra support transitioning between activities.

∙Provides positive feedback to students for social skills and model thoughtful, caring language while playing directly with children, as appropriate.

∙Supports academic learning as requested by students, prompting and praising when needed.

∙Assists the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing environment of discovery and respect.

∙Contributes to the curriculum by approval of the Lead Teacher.

∙Attends all field trips, class projects and celebrations, school events, picnics, and festivals.

∙Classroom set-up and closure each day.

∙Act as Substitute Lead Teacher in the absence of the Lead Teacher.

Other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

∙ Undergraduate Degree or an Associate’s degree with additional experience

∙At least 2 years of experience in early childhood education.

∙ Love of nature and teaching in an all outdoor environment in all kinds of weather

∙Certified in child CPR and first aid procedures

-Food Handlers Permit

∙Familiarity with Waldorf education a plus

-Spanish language skills or musical instrument skills a plus

∙The position is subject to a background check each year.
